Are Interviews Flawed?

Interviews don’t tell you if the person would be a good coworker. They tell you NOTHING about:

  1. Will this person care about the job? Will they finish deliverables on time?
  2. Is this person careful? Can you trust them and rely on their work?
  3. Is this person honest? Do they act with integrity? If they find a bug in their work, do they proactively disclose it to all affected people?
  4. Does this person care about the health of the system? Do they ignore on-call alerts? Do they use way more system capacity than they actually need, without even trying to save resources?
  5. How much will this person help their coworkers? Will they review code quickly and thoroughly? Will they document their knowledge so everyone can learn from it?
