Terminology

  • knowledge is a proposition that must satisfy three conditions: justified-true-belief
  • proposition - a statement or assertion that expresses a judgment or opinion
  • belief - an acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists
  • justification - is the reason that someone (properly) holds a belief
  • true/truth
    • first-order truth - being in accord with fact or reality
    • second-order truth - fidelity to an original or standard
  • cognition - the mental action/processes of acquiring knowledge/understanding through sense-experience and/or reason
